Choose the language and scope
Open Edit CV and choose Translate. Choose Whole CV to create a new German or English copy from eligible text throughout the document; the source CV stays unchanged. Choose Selected sections to request suggestions only for the sections you choose in the current CV.
- Check the target language and select the scope. A selected section with no eligible text cannot be included.
- For Whole CV, start translation and wait while the new target-language copy opens, then wait for and review its suggestions before accepting, editing or dismissing them. For Selected sections, review the suggestions in the current CV and accept, edit or dismiss each one.
- Before using either result, check names, dates, employers, institutions, figures, links and professional terminology against your source records.
Know what needs review
Names, contact details, employers, institutions, dates and proficiency levels stay unchanged. Standard headings follow the target language only in a Whole CV copy; custom headings need manual review. Restricted text, unsupported fields, unusually long text and some list formats can be excluded for manual review.
Translation has limits for the number of sections, fields and characters. If the chosen scope is over the limit, translate fewer selected sections or shorten and save the source text before retrying.
If translation fails or reads badly
Keep the source CV. For a whole-CV translation, correct wording in the new copy or retry a smaller scope after checking the error. For selected sections, correct the suggestion in review or request it again. A translation can be grammatically fluent while still misrepresenting a fact, so do not send it until you have reviewed it.
